Wildfire

So as many of you have discovered at this point, there is a wildfire in the Green Swamp Nature Preserve, which is about 10 miles away as the crow flies. What we know right now is that it’s covered about 3500 acres, and is 0% contained. I’m not sure if that means that fire crews are letting it burn, or if they are actively fighting it. If anyone has updates on what is going on, let us know!

The smoke is pretty heavy today, so try to stay indoors if you can. The NC Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality has marked our area as a red zone – “unhealthy” -in terms of air quality. That means you should stay inside as much as possible.

You can track the fire on the North Carolina Forest Service website. The fire is known as the Pulp Road fire.
